Anyone watch that Ghost Hunters episode where they visit a house built 200 ft away from the former site of the Manson murders? It was on last night. 2 things freaked me out.
1)they had a "K2" meter that measure EMF or something. They had it tuned to some kind of frequency where its most sensitive to ghosts. They used it to communicate with a ghost. 2 flashes for a yes and 1 for a no. They asked the ghost a series of questions and after every question they got an answer. Long story short the ghost confirmed it was one of the murder victims. They then asked it to lower the temperature in the room to 62 degrees (from 69) and it did. They measured it with one of those laser thermometers.

2) They recorded some EVPs and analyzed it at the end of the show. When they played back the tapes you can hear a woman screaming in the background.

Man that freaked me out! You can hear the suffering in her voice.

The whole interview with the homeowner smelled false to me. As though that guy was just an actor. Almost certain.

"They then asked it to lower the temperature in the room to 62 degrees (from 69) and it did."

You notice the "ghost hunter" said: "and it did. Slowly but surely." Dont' temperatures normally drop as an evening goes on? If i asked a ghost at 8 o'clock to drop the temperature, i'm sure I'd measure a drop two hours later ... or "slowly but surely."

And why are the mansion ghost in a home "200 hundred feet away"? Obviously this was the only home on Cielo drive they could get into.

"EVPs". The false medium's latest sham (why not just produce ectoplasm/). If you're recording with normal equipment, the only thing that is going to register through a mic onto tape is an audible sound produced by soundwaves. It's just the way the mechanism is set up. You have to move that diaphram with airpressure to produce electricity to record to tape. The whole EVP things has always reeked of ******** to me.

Now, that said, I'd like to believe in spirits (or not) as much as the next person, but these frat boy jokers with their flashing lights are going to prove anything to me.

And let's not forget, Houdini spent years searching (with hope) for someone with the ability to contact the dead and found nothing. Meanwhile, these doofuses can go out weekly and come home with more ghost that the titanic. Not.

The temperature change happens in only one area of the room and it was shot in real time over the span of maybe 90 seconds. It then goes back up to room temp in a matter of seconds.

Ive watched almost all of their episodes and Ive seen them find absolutely nothing and sometimes they catch crazy stuff. Anyone can fake this stuff, but why go through the trouble? There is one episode in a hotel haunted by a woman that pulls the covers off of people. They have footage of the blanket being pulled off of one of the guys legs.

dude, you gotta be kidding me. That blanket pull was the worst fakery I've ever seen in my life. It's so obviously a string beneath the blanket pulling it. If a "ghost" was lifting a blanket, it would rise UP slightly from being pinched and lifted. That blanket pulls straight back and down. Its obviously a string being pulled between the guy's leg. Man, if that's the best these dodos can conjure...

Are you serious? Do you know how much money they make?

Not much if you go by ratings and advertising dollars. I think they were doing this before the TV show got started. Also check out the Eastern state penitentiary episode. A lot of shows have been there and have footage of hauntings. They closed part of the tours down because of people freaking out.

They are making plenty of money from this. Shows about ghosts, poltergeists, and people who "communicate" with the dead, along with televangelists and the like, have been reaping the profits for decades.

I watch the show from time to time. These guys were doing this long before the show started. They also still have their day jobs at Roto Rooter guys, snaking out your plugged toilets. I doubt they are multi-millionaires.

That said, I think a healthy dose of skepticism is required when watching the show.

Oh yes, exactly the kind of credibility I look for in a psychic researcher. And a working class, crappy day job reality would, of course, in no way affect their willingness to commit fraud for a million bucks a year.
