Hi guys,

I'm getting the RS-1/RA-1 combo (well, they're somewhere in the mail and should arrive next week...). So far, I've always been using the Ipod as a source, but I guess I won't get the most of my setup unless I upgrade the source... so this is basically what I'm now looking for... a new source.

My bank account is running very low since I bought the RS-1/RA-1 combo... so I need to find a pretty good but nonetheless CHEAP source. Any suggestions ?

I'm definitely trying the SR-325i with the new setup BEFORE I sell it ! But I'll probably end up selling it, as you suggest.

RS1: 2x the price of sr-325i, 2x better right?

Hmm... I'll know that in a short while.

I decided not to provide with a budget, so I don't miss any good suggestions...

I'll probably end up selling my 325i, which will give me some lattitude... but a large part of that sale has to go back to the bank account...

What I look for is the best "bang for the buck", and not the best ever source...

The budget may vary, but should be kept as low as possible.

He's my friend and here's what I told him:

Cheap good CD Player for 20$US: PS1 with PS2 remote

Chead CD/DVD/SACD player for 150$US: Oppo (Oppus?) or Sony.

Cheap and pratical DAC/Transport for 250$US: Squeezebox 3

Cheap transport: Trends Audio UD-10

Above that, I would get SlimDevices Transporter (2000$US

) and Lavry DA10 (900$US) but hey, got the budget?

I suggest the NAD C525BEE. I bought one a couple of months ago and i'm in love with it. If you get one of these the only difference between our setups would be the headphone amp, once i have a Mapletree Audio Design Ear+ Purist HD2. All i can say to you is that it sounds brilliant ...
