I posted here not too long ago, saying my JVC HA-RX700s (Which I loved) broke and I wanted to try something new, and Gemini DJ HSR-1000s were recommended as a replacement. I plan on ordering them soon, however further reading has raised a few concerns:

1. Are these good general use budget headphones? I just have onboard audio and listen to all types of music (Rarely techno, dubstep, or anything super bassy however). Will these work okay for that? Several reviews mentioned they weren't good for modern music like pop or rock.
2. Can the coiled cable reach 10 feet?

I guess that's pretty much it - I'm someone who enjoys music, can easily hear a difference between different bitrates, etc. but I'm not exactly an audiophile... I just want something that can handle all my music and games with relative ease.

The Gemini DJ HSR-1000 is the same headphone as the Takstar Pro 80, just rebranded. You can find lots of discussion of them in this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/585356/the-takstar-technical-pro-gemini-greathon-cyberx-qpad-thread

If the HSR-1000 had a Sony labeled, it would easily sell for over $100.
The HSR-1000 sells for $45.
If you where willing to up your budget to $200, you could easily do better then the HSR-1000.
On-board should not have a problem driving the 60-Ohm HSR-1000.
Not sure how long the HSR-1000 cable reaches (gave my HSR-1000 to my nephews), but it's easy to get an extension cable.

Alright thanks for the replies. I wasn't concerned about the quality, but rather the... Sound stage? A bunch of reviews threw around words like that saying that some songs didn't sound good in them, such as this review. That review and others all seem to claim that techno sounds best in these, while rock and pop don't sound that great.

Are they just being picky?

They might be picky.
But your just not going to find a better headphones, without going way over $100.
I think of the Gemini HSR-1000, as a good started headphone, before your headphone purchases start taking really big byte out of your wallet.
