I am so livid right now. The Geek Out V2+ has absolutely fantastic sound. However, if the USB cable gets jiggled EVEN SLIGHTLY, it produces a nasty DC transient (I guess that's what it is). This has only been an annoyance until now; after working to do a beautiful recabling for my Klipsch Image3 to a balanced setup, that transient blew out the left speaker!
****! I know they aren't that expensive, but that's not the point. I shouldn't have to replace them because they were fine, and the next pair it destroys might cost many times more
Can anyone post a [simple] link about how to build a relay to prevent this from happening again? Or to just order one? Is there any better approach than a relay? Because the USB cable WILL get jiggled again, no matter how careful I am. Already I don't consider the GOV2+ to be in any way portable due to this issue. (I've even considered getting a beater phone and just soldering the damn usb cable in place! Ugh)
My soldering skills with very thin wires are quite good at this point, but I don't necessarily know how to read a circuit diagram of any complexity. Step-by-step instructions, I can follow easily.
This piece of evil crap sounds so amazing I'm not willing to give up on it, even though I want to throw it into a wall right now. LH Labs are a bunch of bastards though and I hope their mothers don't love them. Seriously, a design that destroys earphones if the connecting wire GETS JIGGLED SLIGHTLY? Because it requires two different cables (one OTG, one normal) there is no possible steady arrangement, there will always be slack hanging loose! Why isn't there an OTG ending in a microUSB male tip? I have the GOV2+ velcroed to my phone case, and sometimes just holding it at a slight angle will disconnect it and cause a DC spike. What were they thinking?
