I'm still fairly new to vinyl, I've been using my dad's old turntable the Garrard Zero 100 but I just realized that I can't change the speed on the turntable, and that it needs to get a new cartridge as well.

So if anyone lives in michigan, could you recommend a place to get it fixed? Also, any advice on cartridge selection would be great! Thanks!

This is a pretty cool turntable with some interesting and novel design. Lucio Cadeddu of TNT audio (Italy) is a big fan and there are lots of articles on there about restoration etc.

I used to have an old Garrard, and it is worth getting into shape. Have you inquired at local hi-fi stores if they have recs on a nearby resource?

Thanks for the replies, the tnt audio link I found helpful, and I think I will try a good Grado cartridge. But is there anyone who actually has experience with someone in Michigan or can recommend someone specifically? From reading the TNT audio site, it sounds as if these TT are quite fragile, and I don't want anyone to mess it up. Thanks in advance.

Apart from the tonearm which does sound fragile the rest of his tweaks seem fairly simple although I am slightly dubious of the need for changing the powerchord.
You could try http://www.vinylengine.com/ or http://www.theanalogdept.com/ both of which have dedicated Garrard resources and posts from users all over the world.

You could also try Lorricraft http://www.garrard501.com/ who now own the Garrard name and support the 301/401. They are bound to have some contacts in the USA.

As far as belts go tim @ http://www.turntablebasics.com is very patient and helpful and will take the trouble to send you different ones to try until you find the right one
