My rat shack has 4.5v or 6v walwarts that are 300ma. Can I use either of these? Amb site says 4.85v-5.4v. Pls help.

........ well considering 4.5V and 6V are clearly not within the 4.85V to 5.4V range, I'd say you have to keep looking.

if you were in a super hurry, you could take a 6.5 or greater voltage and run that into a 7805 3-term chip regulator and then send THAT into the dac.

also, be VERY careful about so-called regulated wallwarts. ALWAYS measure them with a meter before assuming 'oh its marked as 5v'. many of the 5v ones put out a lot more and this could ruin your dac. test first before you plugin!

I have a 9V "regulated" wallwart that outputs 9.6V...I use a LM7805 to bring it down to 5V and then send it into the DAC and it sounds lovely.

but yeah I wouldn't count on a regulated wallwart outputting its rated voltage
