Hello folks,
I recently bought a new XPS gaming laptop(aka a beast).Yesterday bought a Audizy 2ZS for it...till then i was happy but now i am scratching my head in confusion...
I play games (90% of my time) and watch sci fi movie (10% of my time) and yes... no or very less music(WOW,AOE3,POP2T music rulez)
and I want to have a good headphone that will give me max surround sound with moderate to heavy bass(I dunno but i think the bass controller on the software itself will be enuf bass at max) .what should i do?

HD650,K701 or A900 or other??I am confused to hell...

Please suggest(I wanna order that within this weekend - I cant take sound coming from that pathetic tiny earplug - btw I won a Gigaworks 750 for my desktop and why I am not using them is alltogether different story ...umm hope my gfrnd not reading it

). So save this poor soul----
I have read some threads on this but got more confused :-((
thx in advance

---going to lvl up my warlock in WOW ..omg that tiny earplug again...

Hi,

First, welcome to Head-fi!

and sorry about your wallet (in the future)

For gaming, you might want to look at A500 which can be bought for $100 at www.audiocubes.com.

I think HD650 and K701 and A900 would be an overkill for gaming purpose, unless you listen to alot of music too and also decide to throw in a dedicated headphone amplifier along with them, good amps will cost you a hefty amount of money too.

HD650 and K701 are both not the best for gaming and almost require an amp to use. Your best bet would be an A500 since the A900 is only slightly better and you don't listen to music anyway.

The Phonodome Qu4d is a surround sound headphone I made myself because all the other attempts made by various companies are bollocks. The headphones in my avatar are the Jecklin Floats. An aquired taste.

As to the A500, I have not heard it personally, so I am unable to comment.

Back when I used to play games and LAN a lot i used to use a cheap pair of stereo headphones with eax. These days when I have the occassional game I like to use my PX100s. But then i dont game much now, and I wouldnt trust my other headphones at a LAN in case some clumsy bugger spilled coke on them.

U sure is a mastermind i suppose.reminded me of Amar Bose- u guys know that right?he didnot like the sound of his radio so he throw them and make a radio...while on plane he can't listen to the headphone due to noise so he deviced advanced noise cancellation headphone - later he created the company today known as "Bose".
back to the business (ehh...gaming) so i will wait few hours b4 i sleep and 2morrow i will order A500....they r good surround and bass aye?

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but I think the Beyer DT770 (preferably 80 ohm version) is a great gaming headphone. If you want lots of bass, it has that. I mostly use them for FPS gaming, but I have used them with WoW as well, and they did very well.

A900LTD. Get em while they're hot!

an A500 would be enough, anything more would be an overkill for only gaming. I decided to test my a500s for gaming just a few hours ago. The soundstage/3d- positioning was quite impressive. It was almost as if I could frag with my eyes closed.

the a500s are also very comfortable, audio technica makes some of the most comfortable headphones around.

Beyer DT 990. Great for COD and you don't necessarily need an amp.

Haha, there is constant talk of the HD650 and K701 here. Also, if you go online and search for expensive headphones, they both come on top. (Heck, they're more expensive than Bose crapness.) As for the Audigy 2ZS, errr... oh well.

Your best bets are the Beyerdynamic DT770 or Audio-Technica A500. The DT770 would be a great choice if you can get a small portable amplifier. That will probably cost you around an extra $60 to $80 dollars.
