Things i need

open ear/can: so i can hear people talking and communicating at lan.

comfort: i play for long periods at a time so comfort is a must.

Directional sound: most important of all the requirements i have to hear from what direction sounds are comming from.

Microphone: not a must but would be nice to have it built in.

thx for the help

one thing --

if you have a decent soundcard, don't get the pc160, get the pc150 (which is the same headset but with mini-headphone jacks instead of usb). the pc160 are usb headphones with built in sound hardware, which will bypass the output of your soundcard. this is ok if you have no soundcard or a really bad one. if you have any moderately decent sound card, get the pc150 instead. you should get better sound and performance.

anyway i have pc150, good gaming headphone for sure. it's tweaked to be pretty bassy, which is great for rumbling explosions and gunfire, not so great for music. all in all i think it's an ideal gamer headphone for around $60.

^That's incorrect. The PC160's will suit you fine. Ocean is thinking of the Sennheiser PC155's. The PC160's are open (PC150's are closed), circumaural (as oppsed to PC150's supraural), have a good mic (same as PC150), and have a larger freq response than the PC150s. I have the PC150s, and I really like them. Not the greatest for music, but good for gaming. I can wear them for long periods of time comfortably.

i was thinking of the pc155. and even on those, i now see you can take off the usb adapter and just use the mini headphone. and now i see original poster wanted open cans....

pc160... hmmm interesting. i probably would have grabbed those instead if i knew of them when i bought my pc150.

The two headsets i was looking at were the

icemat siberia's with removable usb soundcard.

sennheiser pc160sk edition.

Then people told me i would have better sound with sennheiser hd 515s or 555's and a stand alone mic.

The pc160's intrigued me because of the 360 degree sound technology.

thx again for the input so far.
