nintendo isn't advertising it, but the gameboy advance sp is now backlit, not frontlit. the box has "now with brighter backlit screen" on it. still $79 too. i picked one up today and some used games. chances are you will not see it on the shelves until they sell the older version. i had to ask for it.

just fyi!

yeah, i just read about that the other day. i may actually go pick one up with some store credit i have since I have started replaying my GBA games. supposedly the screen is slightly more blurry but much brighter, which the people at IGN seemed to prefer to the previous SP.

i just watched the intro to supermarioworld and it is indeed very bright and colorful. much better than the f/l sp. gamestop (the store) also sells their own headphone adapter for $6, which comes with the same hard case the shure e5c comes with (circular zipper, looks exactly the same!!).

Sounds like you'd be a good candidate for a high-fiber diet

I might pick one up, since I mistakenly sold my existing SP thinking the DS would play GBC games. How am I supposed to play Oracle of Ages/Seasons?!?

Can't you throw them on a flashcard and emulate them or something yet?

Yet still no headphone jack.

I'll bet the audio output via their top "auxilliary" jack is still buzzy noisy crap like the original SP.

I'm wondering if the Micro is any better in the Headphone output dept. It does have a headphone jack, and I tried my Ety's with them at E3, but it was quite noisy on the convention floor, so I didn't really get a chance to hear for noise in the output.

Don't forget about this little gem:

Game Boy Micro

I think it ships next week...

Its tiny, but really comfortable, and the screen is REALLY good. very sharp and clear and bright.
But it claims to not play GB/GBC games.

How does the famicon edition vary from the regular type??
