Hi all,

I am Pretty new to the whole Portable Audio scene (bar the odd iPod and Ultimate Ears IEM's) and as a relative newbie have a restricted budget.

I have just upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S2 to an S4 with 64GB Micro SD for tunes.  I own a pair of House of Marley Redemption Song On Ear cans. to be honest the sound from the S4 with the HoM's is not bad but I wanted better.

So, I have sourced a FIIO E07K DAC/AMP + Samsung USB OTG cable (not yet arrived) and THEN did the research.

I am advised on different forums etc that the FIIO E07K AND Samsung S2/4 combo's don't work.. Ahhhhhhhhh.

I guess what I am asking is - is this info accurate (hoping not) and if so whats the chances of Samsung/Google fixing it, at least on the S4? how responsive are these behemoths at 'fixing' such issues?. I use the word fixing advisadly as I understand the S3 worked with the E07K.

I also hear of a specialist Andriod DAC/AMP from FIIO, the E18, any news on a pending arrival?

so, if I cannot use the DAC component with the Samsungs (I am using the AMP part, but question the real benefit) is there a portable music player with 60+GB storage that could benefit the E07K?

I have connected it to my laptop via USB and played FLAC audio and it does sound bloody luvly I must say.

any views, assistance, derision, or just feeling sorry for me is welcome

yours

Is your phone rooted by any chance. Also, are you running a custom ROM?

Many thanks

with theUSB-OTG cable and USB Audio Recorder Pro it Works. but this app does not play MP3 so 70% of collection not listenable and even to developers point, it's not a media player.

However, would be great to get this working with Poweramp etc

Regards

Hi,
I know this is an old thread but just thought I would make people aware that the FiiO E07K will now works with the Galaxy S4 if you have Android 4.3, no additional drivers or software needed.
I found this out after I bought the FiiO E18 and this did not work until I updated my phone.
Hope this helps someone

Yes that is correct, no root needed.
But there is a way to root the phone without loosing its warranty:
