has anybody done direct A/B comparison on these two configurations?

I am finishing up a GC and wondering which route I should go...

I just built a simple non-inverting GC amp, sounds great. From what I understand, their have been many trends in Gainclones (regulated PSU, inverting, etc...), but the "original" still has that special sound which gave them their claim to fame.

I followed the simple three-resistor GC [like Peter Daniel's (AudioSector) GC on diyaudio].

An inverting needs an audio cap, a non inverting is dc strait like amd designs. Its my opinion that the best cap is no cap...

i used P.D.'s schematic as well and it sounded great, but had issues with DC offset and RFI. i had minimal DC offset with inputs shorted and when driven by my BM DAC1 or iPod - but with a CK2III (no DC offset alone) serving as a preamp, DC offset when up to 500mV. the issues have been resolved with added capacitors per the LM3875 datasheet, but just make sure you measure offset on the speaker outs with the amp in the complete component chain before hooking up to your speakers.
