It all started last friday night. I found that I had a small cough and thought it must be nothing.

Next morning I was POOOWNED. I was incredibly exhausted and couldn't do anything. I had a very dry cough and a bit of a headache. It was around 12pm by the time I got up and stumbled my way into the lounge, and I was utterly dead all day. I didn't sleep much that night either.

Sunday morning I was still POOOWNED, but less so. My cough had got a bit worse and I have developed a bit of a sore through. Further towards the end of the day I started having a blocked and runny nose. My tempurature was up a bit too and I had a bit of a fever. I slept better that night.

Monday was differen't. I was no longer exhausted, but my throat had got even sorer and my cough had turned wet. My throat kept getting blocked up with phlegm making it hard to breath, which was not very nice. Later on that night I began to feel a little sick, but nothing happened. I slept very well.

Now this morningit was differen't again! I woke up and felt like I was going to be sick. I sat there thinking I was, but I never did. I think that its because of the phlegm running down the back of my throat, but I dunno. Today my throat is a little less sore, but I still have a very phlegmy cough which is annoying. I also feel like I'm going to be sick every time I move which is ALSO annoying. So yeah, I feel crap right now.

So what do you think? Is it the flu or something else? How can I make it more pleasent to have or make it end faster?

Thanks!

Cranberry juice and cherries tend to be my cure-alls of choice. They just seem to make me feel better. Ride it out, drink some slightly flat ginger ale, and decide for yourself if General Hospital is better than Passions.

I don't know if it's the flu, but it doesn't sound fun. Drink some tea and eat fairly plain food. Soup/crackers/pretzels always make me feel better. Make sure to get lots of rest.

Edit: I second the flat ginger ale suggestion, that can be very helpful and tastealicious.

For me, a surefire sign that I am getting the flu is that before the disease proper starts, all of the skin on my entire body will be sore and very sensitive. When this happens, the flu always follows.

(Moron's advice here)

I had a pretty bad cold last month, probably borderline flu since it hit me so hard. Anyways, so it was my last day in Taipei and my friends wanted to go clubbing, so of course I went along, dying of fatigue and coughing my ass off. Thankfully, it was five free drinks night and after a Gin and Tonic, Heineken, Yeager Bomb and two cigarettes (I miss Mild Sevens so much...

) I felt on top of the world. Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the nicotine, maybe it was the adrenaline from watching hot chicks box each other, maybe it was the dancing with hot chicks, or a combination of all four saved me.

Your experiences may vary. And probably will.

Never heard of Gatorade, but Powerade is advertised to have loads of electrolytes... Would it count?

Thank's for everyone's advice!

Yes, powerade would work.

I'd have your mom call your doctor, and go in to get checked out. Odds are you may have the flu, but you can never be too careful. I had a phlegmy cough earlier this year, after two days of no energy, and it turned out that I had a respiratory infection of some sort -- right after I got hit with the stomach flu. If that is what's up in your case, you'd be on antibiotics for 4-5 days to get fully recovered.

If you start puking, take it slow and eat jello for a day or two. It helps tremendously... Especially since you really shouldn't eat anything else if you've got stomach flu.

And man, don't push yourself. I know you probably don't want to do anything, but don't fall to temptation. Your body needs as much rest as possible, and you getting up and exerting yourself in any way doesn't help.

Mmm scary... I spose I better try get the doctor. Hope they don't need to stab me with that evil needle >_> Thanks for all of that advice!

I got some Vitamin C tablets as well (strong ones too) so I hope that will work as well. I don't really like missing school because when you get back youve missed lots of stuff and its really weird...

Oh, quick way to cure that phlegmy throat - eat some apples. They help to clear up the mucus!

Eat lots of kiwis and oranges and what have you, and drink lots of fluid!
