Photo-Fi

I got into DSLR photography a couple months ago, which I think is an expensive hobby just like head/hi-fi. That's why I had to set a $100 budget on head-fi so I can spend on my photo-fi hobby haha. Seriously, lenses are to photography as headphones are to head-fi.

Also into:
Acoustic guitar-Fi
Food-Fi

Used to but stopped now:
Gaming-Fi
Shoe collecting-Fi

It's interesting to see what other hobbys you guys are into.

You should know by the influx of photography threads in Members Lounge that a good handful of us are photo-fier's

I'm also into computers, which is a hobby that has sort of been dying for me lately but I'll probably get into it again once I start piecing together my college rig.

home studio.

KRK RP-8
KRK RP-10S
PreSonus Central Station
MOTU 8preShure SM57
Marshall MXL 603/2001 combo pack
Berhinger ECM8000
Rode NT1
Roland RD700SX

all has been sold. **** space constraints. i miss my $700 microphones and all of the electronics behind it. oh well, didn't have a good computer to do it justice anyways. i have a good $5000 in my name now though. this means that i can buy a good keyboard and computer and make my own synthesizer rig. with software like Ivory, NI B4-II, Absynth and other such products i can make a good music making rig with something like the M-AUDIO ProKeys 88 and a laptop, with a good keyboard amp too. i've always wanted to teach myself piano and this could be the chance. i think that the home studio was more of a "keyboard-fi" thing than anything, i just had that awesome keyboard for all the wrong reasons. with a good $500 MIDI controller and a silent computer i can teach myself piano, hammond and synth in my spare time, and show off to the internet later. might make a home studio again in college as a hobby, but i think expanding my boundaries as a musician is more important.

so yeah, expect to see me with "Keyboard-Fi" in my signature in the future.

i'm also interested in getting a decent digital camera. i will probably start off with a decent point-and-shoot to capture the highlights of the evening when i hang out with friends, and if i catch an upgrade bug i will go for an entry-level DSLR like the Nikon D50. not terribly interested but i would like to be able to take some high-res, low-noise images nonetheless.

edit: also, when i was younger i was really into RC planes. i have a few magazines about the hobby and still have a good mini-rc plane that can go for a while on batteries, go pretty damn fast and fly circles around your puny kites. it's fun to take it out every once in a while but i don't think i will be upgrading that in a while.

i'm also going to start a vinyl rig soon, and rebuild an old Thorens table with my dad. replace the arm, cart, belt, plinth, mat, everything.

lastly, i'm also going to start taking up bass and getting guitar lessons from my uncle, who is a superb acoustic guitar player. my ultimate goal is to be able to play tuba, double bass, and electric bass for my holy bass trinity, and i just want to know my way around a piano, organ and acoustic guitar. i couldn't care less about electric guitar.

Currently getting more into Classical music-fi

have been classical guitar-fi for awhile (playing on a Kenny Hill concert guitar)

cooking-fi

BEER-fi (brewing my first home brew now)

and of this week, I'm joining DSLR-fi: my camera accessories came today (begining lens: Tamron 28-75mm, and Canon 580EX flash). Still waiting for the camera body though (Canon 5D)....it's even more frustrating then waiting for an amp, because there's nothing I can do with these fancy new gadgets without a camera body!!!!

Actually, I notice it's worst!!!! Once I expand my lens collection, it's going to get much worst then audio equipment

At least with audio, you might get just one or two headphones more then $1k......most the decent Canon lenses are more then $1k a piece

Ok; Bike-Fi too.

I still have my 74 Triumph Trident I bought back in 73 when we still lived up in Michigan. The salt rotted out my first exhaust system. Phooie; didn't make to Daytona this year though

nice GSXR... R6 is faster, but we can debate about that all day =). i really want to get into photo-fi but the cost has scared me away. my dad was a photograper at another time in his life and still has his old Nikon F2 and F3 with a full set of lenses. Maybe this forum will inspire me to dust those off and put it to good use again!

I used to be into a LOT of different hobbies, but that was before kids. Now I just don't have the time, so headphones remain my one outlet.

mountain biking
Kramer guitars
RC cars
Car audio
Beer

I also have a modest Denon, Boston, Triad home theater setup. But my wife uses it more than I do. Of course I prefer headphones for DVD movies.

I love outdoor grilling in the warm summer months.

I just read your sig. My iAudio X5 isn't for sale. And neither is my Gixxer. Even though lots of people who ride R6's have inquired as they're interested in the faster and more nimble GSX-R600

Book Fi here as well.

Motorcyle Fi --- My hubby and I just got our 2nd bike. Now we have his & hers!

Camping Fi - In a few more years we can retire & we plan to travel full time for a couple of years in our 5th wheel RV. If we decide we enjoy the bikes, we'll probly move to a toy hauler so we can take them with us.

Kitty Fi -- my kitty rules my life!! Except for what hubby rules
