Futuresonics Atrio m8 - 99$

Man, the blue ones? REALLY? Seems like the M8s are the only model that site carries - it shame they don't have the M5s as well. Anybody know if they are an authorized dealer, or does Future Sonics not make a fuss about that?

I can be wrong about this, but I believe low priced blue ones are version One.
What is difference between One and Two? Version One has memory-tube (wire), some found that annoying, and certain part of rubber wire began to get weak sooner than expect. Sound wise, very very small difference, really not a big deal.
My black version One bought 3 years ago, is still in great shape. My friend's is dying after two years of normal daily use (never exercise with it).

Dying how?

Also, FS hasn't changed their design (internal) or the types of components (using drivers in lieu of armatures) for nearly 20 years. They also don't use any crossovers, as they are not needed for a driver. Please explain how there could be a sound difference between these two models.

Products are revised through out production life spin, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it is a major problem. As I mentioned earlier, mine (version One) still works great after 3 years, my friend's died after 2 years. There is no way to tell how long it will last.

Regarding to the different sound signature between versions, Newzild went through the big Atrio thread, here is what he had read..

As to the built quality, Simonm has this explanation if you agree.

They did change the driver, they improved the highs and bass extention in V2.

Can anyone who ordered from OWC confirm whether these are the 2nd Revision or the 1st Revision? My 2.5 yr old v1 have just about had it (memory wire completely eroding at the earpiece), so thinking of buying these again despite having just bought (and been a little underwhelmed by) the triple.fi from the amazon deal. Gonna probably pass if its the v1 though.

I haven't been able to find any evidence of this on the FS web site, Wikipedia or here. How do you know this?

I just received my tracking number from OWC yesterday. It looks like I'll have them by either Thursday or Monday. I'll keep you in the loop.

I bought v1 for IEMs recently-sound super-V 1 has the bendable wire sleeve near the earpiece-alledgedly better sound from v2 but these sound great. Use them with senn. G2 sytem for band in-ears...bass is awesome..

No reason to trade from my M5s, but I would definitely recommend this deal if you don't have them. I didn't blink when they were at $150.

My M8s arrived today! They are the V1 model, but I actually like the sleeved wire guide. I've never owned a pair of IEMs that need to go over the ear and the sleeve helps keep them in place.

The most important thing is that they sound great! Tight punchy bass with great attack. The decay (or bass extension) is not as good as my Pro 650s but that may change with some burn-in. Since these are actually driver-based IEMs I'm going to put them through a couple of days of burn-in and report back.

Thanks for the update, SoulSyde. Although I'm gonna pass on this deal if its the v1, I still wholeheartedly recommend them at this price. I am trying to prolong the life of the cable on my v1 by using electrical tape in the area where the cable is eroding, so hopefully they'll last a bit longer. I'll be pretty upset when they go -- I'm finding that I still prefer them to my new triple.fi's, although the triple.fi's are great in their own right. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
