I'm currently in the market for some Custom IEMs. I'll probably end up importing the ACS T2i from the UK, but the Future Sonics might be good. I just can't find any information on how they sound (information that's not from their sales pitch, anyway). They've just revamped their product, claim that it is sonically superior to any other IEM design on the market (go figure). This is from their website:

Ear Monitors® brand custom-fit personal monitors were the first product of their kind and continue to be the finest quality available with new technologies, designs and experience - assembled by hand for each individual. Each style now features our new MG4plus™ drivers and demonstrates "The Power of One" - Only Future Sonics offers a single custom made dynamic driver that offers better dynamics, more accurate audio reproduction and a outstanding, natural balance and feel that you cannot get from any other seemingly similar product of this type.

Ear Monitors® brand personal monitors deliver sound the way your own ears want to receive it. Our MG4plus™ single driver design outperform ANY other single, 2 driver, 3 driver, hybrid or even 4 driver configuration and at any price.

Why is this better? Because most other brands still use armature (hearing aid-type) drivers that cannot effectively reproduce frequencies below 100hz. Try as they may, it doesn't sound natural and they lack the sense of feel that you get from all of our universal and custom-fit products.

MG4plus™ drivers in our Ear Monitors® brand products offer increased sensitivity, vivid & accurate sound reproduction that responds to the timbre of the instrument, voice or audio program that you want to hear. What's that really mean? You sound like...you.

That signature performance that let's your audience know your sound is delivered right to your ears, and it sounds full, rich and dynamic -- even at the lowest volumes..You won't find this level of excellence anywhere else but from Future Sonics Ear Monitors® brand products. Listen for yourself...

Hear What You've Been Missing!™

They could be nice. Anyone heard them?

Yeah, they could be...Go for it and write up some impressions! Sounds like they had a professional speechwriter write up that description.

I remember reading a usenet post about Future Sonics many years ago. I think the guy (a drummer) spent $600 and basically hated them. With all of the reviews of UE, Westone and Sensaphonics IEM's on this site why even consider Future Sonics?

If you get a nice price for them, they could be a good purchase. I have them, and like them for certain kinds of music, eg rock and some electronica. I'm not a basshead, so I prefer my Altec Lansing im716 for general use (more expensive though).

At the recommended retail of $150, I think they are expensive, but at $69 (which I paid for them), they do a pleasant job (far better than my old Sony 71s).

Also, they only seem to work well with foamies. The other tips which come with them are poor.

At the end of the day, everybody has different ears. It depends on what sound you want. I enjoy the clarity of the Altec lansing im716 and Audio Technica ck7.

They claim "better than a 4 driver configuration"

Ok, what exactly is a 4 driver configuration, and does one exist?
If so, what is it, and what's an example of one?

2 per side ?

Not sure how to fit 4 drivers per side into each full shell mold, considering how big the ear has to be to fit 4

Current state of the art are 3 drivers like the UE10 and 7 Pros, Westone ES3, Triple 10 Pro, Shure E500s and Voicetronic VT-07s. Looks like marketing hyperbole on the part of the copywriter who wrote that, suggesting that even if the others manage to make a 4 driver unit it'd still be inferior

Yes, my thoughts exactly. But I will surely accept UE's apologies if they tell me they can't send me my triple.fi's but will gladly replace them with a custom quadra.fi instead. It may be bulky, but I'm sure it would sound superb.
