Are there different versions of this recording, of differing quality. Mine on the Price-Less label has record dust noise and I assume turntable rumble. Are there others of higher quality? I'm really obsessing on this recording. Would really like some high quality if available but can't find any. Help, any ideas or comments as to sources or are they all this way.

The recording I have is the one on Music and Arts, which is - all things considered - not bad.

Still, for a 1942 live recording, it's never going sound "great."

I would get the newest Music & Arts label release of 1942 9th which comes in a nice 4 CD Furtwangler set mastered by Maggi Payne:

CD1
VPO/1944 symphony 3, BPO/1943 coriolan, VPO/1944 leonore #3

CD2
BPO/1943 symphony 5, BPO/1944 symphony 6

CD3
BPO/1943 symphony 4, BPO/1943 symphony 7

CD4
BPO/1942 symphony 9

Why not get wartime performances of other Beethoven symphonies as well........
