I would like to get a fun set of circumaural headphones. Open or closed does not matter. My budget is around $130.
From what I gathered:

DT-440
DT-531
DT-770
AKG-K240S
AKG-K271

were some famous fun headphones. Can anybody enlighten me?

Stay away from the akg k271s!!!

You can almost get a pair of HD25-1's for that price.. They are fun! Punchy and rhythmically engaging.. Wait oh crap, they're not circumaural

I have the 990's and they are a "fun" headphone. Also the grado's are along the lines to

Maybe something like the HFI-780 or 750. The 770Pro's are quite good for impact on heavy metal and dance music tracks.

Beyer DT150 Pretty fun and good allrounder
Grado sr225 OH MAN SO FUN WE HAVE IT.

Ill grab the grados almost all the time because its just so easy. And i dont have to turn up the volume so much to have fun. Raw sound even low.

I disagree! While they are not fun, they are not boring. It might be my pair though, as I've read of the differences on of the K271s, and mine are VERY burned in.
I think my DT220s are more fun, they get my toes tapping and are great for rock. But alas, good luck finding ANY information on it, and they might not be circumaural, depending on how large your ears are.

Ok., i was a little hard on the akgs. Its an very good phone with almost everything perfect. It is just the bass that misses something and that i cant stand.

X3 on the Grado's. Up that budget a little and get yourself an SR-225. They are extremely punchy and fun.

I don't think the Grados are Circumarual other than the GS1000.

Take a look at HD555, AD500, AD700 or HD595 if you can find a good price on em.

Ya, the inability to get the lowest lows bothers me in some songs. It has plenty of bass impact however. It also has piercing highs. I think i did something wrong when I blu-tacked it, as they weren't there prior to it.

Any Grado can become circumaural with c-pads V9 Grado C-Pads, Grado Pads
However, at 129, it's not worth it for the lower end ones.
