Hi guys,

So yeah, it's almost the new year. And with the new year comes a new job, and with a new job comes money to be spent on headphones!

Essentially what I'm looking for are a pair of full sized headphones for home use, so open or closed back is fine. In terms of sound signature, the HD25-1 IIs have pretty much hit the nail on the head in terms of the sonic characteristics I look for in a pair of headphones- accurate enough to be considered reference, with plenty of punch in the low end and a sparkly treble. Verging on brightness would be fine as long as there was enough bass weight, warmth is not desired!

I'm looking to spend around £300/$00 on them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated [=

Well, the obvious choice is the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 but that would not really be an upgrade.
Also consider Shure SRH840, Beyerdynamic DT880 or DT990.

Well as great as the M50s are, I would hope there's something even better at the upper end of my budget =P I'll try and track down somewhere I can demo the Beyers though.
