Sold.

I've made a shock defection to Team Sennheiser.
These GS-1000s are only a few months old. They are in like-new condition, both cosmetically and operationally. I bought new them from TTVJ who sent them directly to Larry at Headphile where they were recabled with 2m of BlackGold, including a wood splitter and a matching stand. The wood for the stand and splitter is 'Figured Royal Mahogany' - a non-stock Headphile wood - and matches the wood of the GS-1000s very well. They were originally re-cabled as balanced, but I re-terminated them myself to a 1/4" Neutrik plug; there was a second wood splitter which I removed, and joined the terminating techflex to the soft cable cover with heatshrink (pictured) - I believe this is how Larry does it on non-balanced cables anyway. I used silver solder on the plug. I'm sure it's not as perfect as Larry's work, but I think I did it okay

So this means they aren't balanced anymore

I would love to try out a recabled balanced GS 1000

The beauty of a Headphile BlackGold cable is that you don't need to recable the can if you want it to become a balanced can. It only needs retermination to XLR
From Lad27: "I have been told from Drew lately that " ... The cable geometry is balanced and is wired the same on the headphone end of the cable. The other end where the plug is can easily be changed whenever you decide to go to a balanced rig... "
