Would you say the Momentum 3 sounds a lot like the mdr-z1r sound signature wise? But at smaller scale?

Both have an emphasis to build an ambience that makes them great for tv and films.

No, the momentum has much more of a pop/top 40 tune in comparison to the dark, deep bass rumble of the z1r. They're good for what they are, but not much the same to me.
