The Meridian 565 pre-pro-DAC has no remote and you need one for Vol control. Right now, the default volume is below max and is not high enough for my EMP--all other functions on front panel, I believe. I would ask Sold --which I believe is a screaming deal, let me know if I am wrong. Smooth yet detailed. Like a Bogdan Spirit cable sound. This 565 should be GREAT with any SS systems or tubes. Reason for sale, I have no time to source a remote, but maybe I will if no interest to really evaluate this. IMO, you are looking at this mainly as a DAC, just like the one below.

If you have a remote to control volume for Meridian products, you should consider this piece at this price. With no remote and no intention of getting one, I would pass on it.

See my added info below in the PM reply. The Angstrom is an IC for now, because I would seel it only if another deal for my Sherwood s5000II goes through.

1) Someone wrote and asked me if I was sure it had Dolby Digital Surround. The unit has the DD symbol on it. Honestly, that's all I know.

2) Someone sent me this link. Thanks!!

3) Then, I found this link--which makes it clearer that this unit--like other SOA pre-pro/DACS of the day (like the Angstrom 200) DOES NOT DO 5-ch native Dolby Digital 5.1 AND DOES NOT DO DTS.

4) Here is the use manual on Meridian site

5) If you have a Pronto, Logitech or Meridian remote, then at asking price, I think this is an outstanding deal as a DAC with 'extras' (or go to a buddy and get your learning remote programmed). I assume Pronto, Logitech etc will do Meridian.

6) If you but this, you will need the remote.

PM box cleared. Once I take pics, I will also post on agon. But if you desire to buy (no remote which is needed for Volume control--and default is in middle of range) and all that is stopping you is pics, say so and I will dig up my camera.

I took a good look at the piece and it is in very nice condition all atound. On the front--which is matte black--there is a 'mar' (not really a scratch) that you can see up close and at an angle.

Other than that, without going crazy, I cannot find anything. It looks like all those other beautiful black meridina boxes in the line.
