My laptop hard drive crashed last night, and I need to free up some cash to buy a replacement drive and a tape backup system, so I'm going to (reluctantly) sell my Melos SHA-1.
The unit is black, and it sounds great with both low and high impedance headphones. It is also an above-average preamp.
The Melos is a hybrid amp (vacuum tube input stage, MOSFET output stage), so it has a bit of the classic tube sweetness combined with the clarity and punch of a solid-state amp. The included tubes are new production JJ/Tesla's.
There are many good reviews of the unit here at Head-Fi -- do a search. Also, there's quite a lengthy review from Stereophile: http://www.stereophile.com/showarchives.cgi?617
In the early 90's, the SHA-1 was on Stereophile's "Class A" list, until the much more expensive SHA-Gold was released, at which point the SHA-1 moved to "Class B". Still quite an accolade!
Asking $415 + shipping. I have positive feedback in the Buyer/Seller forum here at Head-Fi.
