First: Why am I selling such a great amp - must be a problem right? Well, the only problem is the hole in my wallet. I just bought a maxed out home and I already have a Melos SHA Gold. I just got the Corda Blue back from Kurt a month or so ago and have REALLY enjoyed the improvements. I did the "Full Monte" with Kurt - all the possible upgrades.
So this is a $345 amp (I got the built version, not the kit), plus $250 in mods for a total of $595 put into it.
This is Corda Blue #3 (I think), and Kurt learned a few things along the way. Here is an excerpt from his PM to me:
"The double output buffers in the wideband mode get really hot. They are within spec but not with very much margin, so I was a bit concerned about shipping out this to other people. The change I made was to use the TO220 version of the BUF634, and to put individual heatsinks on each one. To do this I solder two together, then mount them on a header. I also can wire the header for the correct connections to the socket. By triming the leads just right and then angling the 634s in a V shape, there is just enough room to get the heatsinks on and still fit inside the case. This will enhance the reliability greatly so I think it is well worth the added cost."
