Due to needing some $$$ right now, I'm selling a "complete" setup -- the only thing missing is a source.

This is a great-sounding system -- especially for the money -- and would be perfect for someone looking for their first taste of "higher end" sound or for someone who wants to add loudspeaker capability to their headphone rig.

Amp: Arcam Alpha One: considered one of the best sub-$500 amps on the market. Has received extremely good reviews at its retail price of $400-$450. Like new, barely used, with original box/manuals.

Speakers: PSB Alpha Minis: one of the best speakers on the market for less than $300. A bit less bass than the PSB Alpha, but the bass is tighter, and the Minis have better overall sound, IMO. These are brand new in the box. (we bought a pair of Minis and a pair of Intros for a relative; they decided they wanted the smaller Intros because of space considerations).

Speaker stands: Atlantis: metal stands with matte black finish. Perfect size and height for the Alpha Minis. Include adjustable spikes for the base. In very good condition; retailed for $200 new.

Interconnects: Audioquest Turquoise: very good sub-$100 cables.

I'll also include some decent speaker cable.

Retail price for this system would be around $850. Asking $475 obo

Please email me rather than sending a PM, as unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time for the forums as of late

MacDEF, can you give an estimate on shipping costs for this stuff? Just roughly -- I don't know how much that package would weigh. ...

Thanks.

If I was in the US, those would be mine right now

That's about the right amount I'd like to spend and the type of gear I was looking for.

Good luck to anyone who buys it. You've got yourself a score...

kerelybonto, that's a good question. The biggest cost would probably be the stands, since they're not too small
The amp, speakers, etc. would probably cost around $50 or less altogether to ship. I would guess that if I could find a box that would hold the stands securely and safely, they would cost 40 bucks or so to ship (I'm assuming UPS ground for all this).

If anyone in Cali is interested, and will be in the Bay Area, an in-person delivery is also a possibility

Still available as a complete system. However, I have someone possibly interested in the speakers, so if I can get buyers for everything else, I'd be willing to split it up.

So much interest, but no one actually buying!

I have a few people who may be interested in buying the pieces separately, so if you want the whole thing, get back to me ASAP. Otherwise I'll consider breaking it up.

how much would shipping be to hawaii for everything? i may consider that or just the amp...

shipping of the amp to australia would cost a fortune right? just that i got relatives in hawaii and i think i will be visiting them later in the year.

becomethemould, did I answer your question? I have a feeling that I did via PM, but if I didn't I didn't want you to think I forgot about you

I've had *lots* of email from people who were interested in parts of the system rather than the whole thing, so I'm going to split it up:

Arcam Alpha One: $265

Quote:

From the HiFi Choice review:
A cut-price Alpha 7, with only slightly less power and without remote control, and apparently somewhat better sound quality and a reduced price to suit, the Alpha One comes close to being an ideal budget all rounder... clear Best Buy material.

Quote:

From the Arcam description:
Building on the success of our award winning Alpha 7 and 8 integrated amplifiers. Unlike most amps at this price, the Alpha One is built in the UK using audiophile components and techniques which we have developed over twenty years. These include a toroidal power transformer and Arcam developed VMOSFET power amplifier stages. Like all Arcam amps it can be upgraded in the future by adding a separate power amplifier.

Quote:

From the SoundStage review:
Value? Very high indeed -- no transistory, schlocky sound from this $399 integrated amp; only smooth sailing and organic flow.

PSB Alpha Mini (pair): $100

Atlantis Stands: $80

AudioQuest Turquoise (3 ft): $25
