Upgraded OPAMP is for the front left/right channels only. Check out Auzentech's website for more info.

Head-fi.org price is $130. That is the lowest I will go, so dont ask.

That is all you pay (I eat the shipping and Paypal fees!) This card and OPAMP would cost around $260 retail! You get it HALF the price...no shipping, no tax! WOW!

The Prelude did not support downmixing multi-channel OpenAL+EAX audio to 2 channel stereo when using SPDIF (coax or optical). This may have been fixed by now, but I ended up getting a X-Fi Titanium.

I should be starting my new build soon and will be using an Auzentech Forte since I read this card supports the downmixing feature (I'm a gamer as well as a Headfier).

I am a gamer as well but I just output analog -> 2.1 which works

Eventually I will get a 7.1 system but there's no way i'm spending money on something like that right now...

What's OpenAL?

Also, why would you need to downmix from multi-channel to 2.1 or 2.0? I've never seen a game that only outputs in multi-channel mode...
