Just discovered Headroom's frequency charts. Was amazed to see the low freq drop off for the HD201 I just bought and am disappointed with.

Do these charts reasonably reflect what your ears will hear? Should I stop asking questions here and just go find a nice looking chart and buy that hp? Must say the phones I was considering as a replacement for my HD 497 may not be so hot after viewing the charts.

Anybody got a chart for the obsolete Sennheiser HD 497 so I can compare? Is there a standard criteria for measuring headphones or does each marketing org. make their own?

My suggestion is to only use the charts only for comparing between headphones, not as an absolute measure of sound. Compare the 201's chart with another headphone that you own or can audition.

hd201s have been noted for their low frequency rolloff, though.
