I recently tried a simple modification on my AC RA-1 that has noticeably improved the sound. I removed the on/off switch by splicing the wires coming in and out of the switch. It is noticably more transparent with tighter bass. The switch is a very cheap part that the power has to pass through. I was really surprised at the difference it made.
