Hi gang,

EDIT: Congrats to recipient NotJeffBuckley!

I am offering a free cmoy built by me. I'll pick up shipping, too. This cmoy is nothing special; my casing and wiring skills leave much to be desired, but it works, and I think it's a decent little amp. I used some bigger caps than the default cmoy build as spec'd by Tangent (I used some of the alternative specs.). The bigger caps make closing the lid completely a little difficult, but it closes enough. Here are some other details:

ALPS RK09 volume pot/power switch
OPA2227
Gain of 6 (I think, but I'm not positive)
Green LED, intentionally kept dim
CUI 3.5mm input/output jacks
Runs on 9V battery (alkaline included)
TLE railsplitter

Maybe it will help a first-time DIYer reverse engineer and assist with a build. Maybe it will help someone who wants an amp, but is short on funds. And maybe someone just wants a funky paper weight. Whatever. Just shoot me a PM and tell me why you want it and I'll announce the recipient (assuming there's interest

Thanks and here's a couple of pics:

I love all these amps in the tins like this. I've got four tins sitting around waiting for me to come up with a) inspiration and b) the funds to make something.

Okay gang, I have read all pms and have decided to send the amp to....

NotJeffBuckley

NJB is in the same boat I was in not so long ago: wants to build an amp, but has no experience with circuit diagrams, opamps, etc. I wish I had a completed amp just to look at as it would have helped me understand the process much better. NJB also informed me that he anticipates doing a giveaway himself in the future after he's honed his DIY skills.

Thanks to all for your interest, I enjoyed reading your pm's. A lot of students on the boards (both university and high school). For those students considering DIY, I recommend chatting with one of your student engineer friends. They probably have access to lots of helpful stuff that may ease the cost of entry into the hobby.

Cheers!

I wish I would have seen this thread earlier. I have a cmoy I've been working on from time to time for 3 years and I can't get it to work. I have NO skills with electrical DIY.
