Check these out. They don't really sound that good, but aren't they cool?

Know anything about these? I've been listening to them for a little while now, and they're startin' to hurt my ears. Treble is nasty. But the LOOK!

Speaking of comfort, I've been advised by this forum to get AKG K81DJs. Is it true that the band will hurt my large head? I've heard rumors.

Lol. They look like ghetto D66's.

Perhaps you can swap out the drivers with some other more modern cans? Maybe you can squeeze some listenable SQ out of them...

Yaa those are good candidate housing for some new drivers....put in some cheapo KSC-75 and drill tiny holes around the housing for conversion to open back....you have some mean Back to The Future can there buddy

You've empowered a fool. As soon as I read that, I glanced over at my Sennheiser HD 455s. They began to sweat. They were about to skitter away in fear when I grabbed them and tore them apart with my teeth. I swapped the drivers into these eggs using a technique a like to call 'total lack of headphone knowledge.' Luckily I was able to do all the soldering successfully, and they WORK! but they are still trebbly, trebblier by far than those damn, cheapo sennheisers. So maybe I'll take a breath and check out the DIY forum about how I actually ought to proceed.

That's the: "Woah dude! Woahow!" expression.

To Camille: Headphones look geeky, especially when SONY isn't written on it, but they all do look geeky anyway. People have their fullsize cans, amps and 60GB iPods in the bus. That sounds geeky to the bone for me. Everytime I take the bus, I only carry my MP3 player and KSC75 because there is a big chance I won't be listening to music at all, and will speak to someone I know in that bus. In that case, I can simply pull my headphones off my head and put them in my pocket.

But now if I was taking the bus with such earmuffs, I wouldn't talk to people anymore! I would just wave the whole bus, then point to my headphones and say: "See this!? I'm too cool to talk to any of you now!" And I would walk down on the campus with that huge smile on...

Amazingly, my swap of cases with these and my old sennheisers was very successful. I've been listening to my new frankenphones all day, and I feel like I've experienced some sort of burn-in style improvement. Can old drivers in a new case 'burn in?' I guess that's subjective.

They are still a bit uncomfrotable - I feel the need to pop my ears when I have them on, like I'm on a plane. I'm not on a plane. Is there an easy fix for that, like opening up the eggs on the outside with a drill or something, per a suggestion in this very thread? I'm extremely new to contructing headphones - I used such items in the creation as a big Pink Pet eraser, super glue, some disposable SARS style dust masks, and green foam from a mutilated toy Hulk Hand.

Yeah, it's past midnight, but when I saw that first pic, I couldn't help but majorly chuckle.
