I had the Denon 1000s for a few weeks and then returned them. They're great headphones for the money and so comfortable but they don't isolate you from external noise. This was a deal breaker for me.

If you don't like them you can always sell them at zero loss here. These sell for > $150 used here. Think of it as free rental

Not exactly a review, but definitely a good sample of people's opinions. I've had a pair for just about a month and I find they're really very good, even with the stock cable. I mostly use them driven directly from my 5.5G iPod and I really have heard things that I haven't heard before in songs I've had for quite some time. I rip everything in Apple lossless; no downloading from the Apple Store or anywhere else for that matter. But as another poster noted, they do need burn-in. give them at least 100 hours before you form any opinions and swap the ear pads to the velor ones for both comfort and SQ.
