I’ve been interested in the Utopia for some time. I’ve never been able to hear what they sounded like since my local dealer does not have a demo unit and I didn’t want to shell out $4K.
I saw that Amazon had the Utopia listed as ”renewed.” They described how they verified they were working and cleaned, etc. I thought they were probably selling open box items that had been tried by customers and returned. I read the fine print closely. There was a 90 day return policy and return shipping was free. I thought: what do I have to lose?
I received the package yesterday. It was obvious the headphones have never been opened. Everything was in pristine condition from the factory. If I had to guess why they were selling them for $1,000 less than retail it’s most likely because they are the older packaging than the 2020 release. There is no case or upgraded cables. In my case I prefer the original cable since I sit about eight feet away from my stereo and require a 1/4” termination.
I am impressed. The detail retrieval is beyond my expectation. I’m hearing things in my favorite music I’ve never heard before. And I own some high quality cans.
I can’t guarantee that if you order you’ll get the same results as far as the pristine condition. But, what do you have to lose? If you’ve been desiring these headphones but the price has put you off - here’s your chance.
