Found: decent-sounding vertical headphones.... at Radio Shack?!

I haven't tried that RadioShack VITE headphone model yet, but being very familiar with the two most recent Sony VITE headphone series I'd say that my Sony MDR-A12L's (circa 1993, made in Japan and not the Phillippines) are superior to any of the current generation Sony VITE headphones (early production samples of the MDR-A30G, MDR-A34L, MDR-A44L and MDR-W20G were made in Japan, but currently produced samples of all of the Sony VITE headphones are made in the Phillippines). The A12's have small 13.5mm drivers, but feel much more solid (plastic/metal hybrid construction) than any of the current Sony VITE models (all of which are made entirely of plastic). The A12's have neither too much nor too little bass, with upper mids that are slightly woolly. The current Sony VITE's all have either too much mid-bass or too little overall bass!

Do you think these would be a reasonable alternative to a pair of KSC-35s? I've been looking for a pair of 35s for a long time that I could buy for $20 or less, but haven't had any luck so far. I might go for these, even looking like that, in place of the 35s if they sound comparable.

I looked for vertical headphones this weekend, but my local Radioshed's selection was abysmal and I wanted new headphones now now now!. So I bought a pair of Radioshack Pro-35's for $39 (I don't remember the model no. offhand, and they are not listed on the above link to the radioshack site) - The word 'Titanium' is printed in small silver lettering on each side. I don't know where exactly the titanium is in these phones, but would be interested to learn.

They are remarkably better than the standard phones that came with my cd/mp3 player and have a volume control that is pretty handy. They have boatloads of bass, so much that I changed the setting of my player to 'Treble mode', but once I did that, they sounded quite nice.

Could these be the rebranded Koss phones?

My opinion would be no. I'm going to order a pair of these, since the GF really likes vertical phones, and I'll let you know how they compare, but I highly doubt they will be able to compete with the KSC-35 in terms of sound quality.
