Hi, did you happen to make a 'build thread' or video of the mod? (There may be a chorus of people wanting to say they exist from others, I just never cared until now now that I picked up a Mjolnr on closeout). I think I'd like to do the same.
Yes, you just need to change the back plate over, or buy extra plates. I have the TH900 pads. They change the sound a decent amount, less bass impact, highs are brighter too. Really comfy though.

I thought the difference between TH600 and TH-X00 was the wooden cups and TH500RP pads and these contributed to the TH-X00 having slightly less bass and slightly more forward mids and slightly less harsh treble than the TH600. If you put TH900 pads on a TH-X00, wouldn't that bring it closer to a TH600?

Not sure, don't think so. Haven't heard the TH-900 or TH-600 but I've seen others who put TH900 pads on their THx00 say the same thing about the sound.
I don't find them sibilant, a touch harsh depending on what you listen to

I think I saw a comment once that stated that the TH-900 sounded worse with the TH-X00 pads. Of course, anecdotal evidence regarding pad swaps seems highly inconsistent and you're probably better off trying it out for yourself.
There is a member on an audio forum I am not supposed to mention, that has done many mods to tame the TH900 and still couldn't get it to measure quite as well as the TH-X00. I wish someone would swap the TH900 driver into the TH-X00 to get the extra resolution of the higher tesla-rated driver but still retain the midrange body of the TH-X00.
The few times I have listened to the TH900 I always thought they sounded good but the midrange balance was off and had slightly subdued vocals that got "lost" in the music. If someone could correct that but have the bass and articulation of the TH900 then we need to start talking

I have done a lot of things on my th900 as well, and speaking with different people that also conduct modifications on both. The measurements you are talking about can easily be tampered with. Anyone can make the measured graph look the way they want and post it. But many people have reported that th-900 has the upper hand in everything that the x-00 has.
Does it make sense to conduct a business where a lower tier headphones and cheaper price range can perform just as well as the flagship ? The only differences are the appearance of "urushi" lacquer ? Lol.....
I can have the drivers of 900 implants into any x-00 if there can be a donor
