Edit: It seems that Massdrop asked for 1000 more units from Fostex so another 1000 might end up dropping on Monday.

Fantastic news! They are not taking payment until Monday either (or even later if they get the go ahead with the additional 1000) which is much easier for my money situation.

Looking forward to comparing these with the Fidelio X2 and Sennheiser HD540 and JVC FX850 IEMs I currently own.  There's just something special about wooden headphones.  May the time till their delivery pass quickly. . .

This guy cracks me up. From his review: "Don't you effing dare change the pads on these." Lol.

LOL "If Mahogany was able to speak, that's what comes out of them."

Although I disagree with changing the pads. He owned Mad Dogs which have Alpha pads and he should atleast give them a try. They don't screw up the sound signature unless you enjoy the bass bloom. If you listen to music that already has ridiculous bass, then the tighter bass is more enjoyable.. this is coming from a guy who owns a ghetto blaster in my trunk, two ported 12'' rockford fosgate p3s and no dynamat lol, just a felt trunk covering

Too late. I love them with the alpha pads. Way more comfortable...

I changed my mind. The Alpha pads are hard to find, and in the unlikely event I don't like these, I can always throw in the Alphas if I sell. I just posted a classified asking for them, so if anyone has a semi-fresh pair of them, hit me up.

I actually got cold feet and cancelled my first order, then reconsidered and joined the drop again yesterday.  I really hope this headphones meet the hype.  I'm not unrealistic, I know these cannot beat out headphones over $1000 but I'm looking for a fun and bassy pair of headphones to upgrade from my AKG Q701's.

You are in for a great experience. I impulse bought on the first drop, as I've been wanting a good foil for my Q701's which ive had for three years and I am 1000% satisfied with the X00's. The detail, bass, and fun factor are leagues above the 701 imho and really reveal how clinical and "boring"(?) the Q701s are. These have been on my head for over a month now, with the 701s only returning to confirm my perceived differences.

These are well worth the $400.

Im on the current drop so i hope the long wait is worth it. I'm pretty patient so hopefully the long wait time means more careful craftmanship. I saw some post on this thread about some quality issues, hopefully mine will turn out fine when i get them. Don't really care about the mahogany cups though, although it is quite nice. More importantly the sound, hopefully it's to my liking.
