Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Wow!!! this is awesome! $399!!!

I have a question about this unit: is it as good as TH900? A lot of people have mentioned that TH900 is like a closed version of Sennheiser's HD800 because of its spacious and detailed sound.
Is this new TH X00 the same headphone with just a different cup?

Some people said TH600 isn't nearly close to TH900 at all... I hope this new TH X00 isn't a different version of TH600.
TH900 is a professional reference headphone intended for studio usage. Does TH X00 stand for the same reason?

Must have these.  Hopefully my DAC sells soon so I can get it.  I was totally expecting the price to be $700 or $800.  Massdrop is doing some outstanding things in the community right now.  I'm stoked.

I'm guessing it at least uses the same driver/magnet structure as the TH900 since it says 1.5 tesla instead of the (I think) 1.2 of the TH600

I hope THX00 is a variant of TH900 ... just like AKG K7XX that is the same as AKG K712 for the half of its price.
If THX00 has the same sound quality as TH900, I'm buying it...

We can hope.  I re-read the first page and it's hard to say.  It seems it's a unique design falling in between the two possibly.

Where in the world did you ever hear such false claims? TH-900 is neither claimed to be a professional reference headphones, nor is it anything equivalent of the HD800 sound signature. It is a V shaped, fun to listen to, basshead headphones. It is also not really closed, as it barely isolates more than an open headphones, and leaks a lot of sound. I am guessing this TH-X00 is a middle ground between the TH-600 and TH-900, with a nice pair of finished mahogany tonewood cups on, which should make them more neutral than the Fostex cousins. The worrisome part is the tiny ear opening on the earpads. That's very worrisome.

Earspads are too small and no detachable cable, 0/10 would not bang :D
But I can understand them doing it to keep costs down
