When comparing the THX00 I will be looking at other headphones in the $400 to $700 mid-fi range. I would think that is where they fit in.
  2. Whitigir
    Wasn't th900 around $2,000 on release ?
  3. audiobot

U will be looking at other closed headphones correct? Some seem to want to compare these to the hd650, but those r open.
  4. TWerk
Th600 seemed like a hit or miss for many. They either liked it or didn't. If thx00 is similar (seems this way) then I would not be surprised to see these mixed reviews. Just look at the th600 thread.

Fostex TH-900 were $2200 plus tax. They are still one of my favorite headphones, that give me so much foot tapping and head buzzing. My TH-X00 is for sale if anybody wants a pair.PM me.

WOW really? Thats way too quick with internetional shipment.

Another good thing about these is that they more or less show the modders what you need to do to get the TH900 to a more neutral FR. The TH900 with the adjustments made with these to shape the FR would likely be a world beater.
  9. Whitigir

Wow!....mind blown ! So it is basically a bargain now!
This is what I am going to do

The TH series (THX00, TH900 and TH600) are only kinda closed. Same as the old Denon DX000 series.
  11. sghound
they're semi-closed or semi-opened, depending on how u look at it

Or massdrop will introduce the TH9XX at $800-$1000  Change the hand lacquered cups to the mahogany and save a few hundred.

Still there has been complaints or at least disclaimers on comfort with the current pads. Someone needs to make pads that captures the sound change from these pads with the comfort of the old ones
  13. Luckbad
Like this? Audeze pads + rings in the same shape as the new pads (high impact styrene and high density polyurethane).
  14. wahsmoh
And this works just fine? I will definitely swap pads, the stock ones don't look like they will cut it.
  15. Sonido

If those give the same more neutral sound along with comfort, you could probably sell them for $50 a pair much like someone did for jergpads and the HE-500
