Well... today it happened. Headband snapped on the left side as I took my headphones off.

I'm using the original th900's. I know there's replacement headbands I could buy, but honestly this is the 4th time something has broken with this headband assembly... anyone know of a headband replacement mod that doesn't involve 3d printing?

You could try to find a binding post that uses a larger machine screw diameter and replace the original piece. The cups would rotate 360° though.

That's what I did for my THX00 and Denon D2000.

I did one repair like this a couple years ago for someone and told them to contact me if it fails. I’ve yet to hear back from them.

It took me a while to figure out the specific term “binding post” though.
I used screws so I probably ruined the look but at this point I've had these headphones for years so I'm not concerned about that.

The one for my THX00 is still holding but the Denons actually just fell apart again

Too bad to hear that not only are their earpads of some low quality in this model, but the headband is also somethig to take care of. The cups look nice though and they sound great! Liked that my pair that I owned some time ago didn't have the slightest touch of harshness in the highs which I have been reading was something people complained about.

Now old Denon D2000 are the only ones I have left with this type of headband. Still working and they have this feeling of a nice soundstage but without this thundering bass response and tonality is not so tube-warm I would say. Other than that I still think they could easily compete with some modern cans from that price range effortlessly. But that is for another thread I guess.

Guys, need advice.
By 90%, I listen to the vocals of trance, subspecies of air electronics, classics in modern processing, pop and rap.

I have a CA Cascade, they are not bad, but I feel that the level is not a top.
Also, I have Stax 009, but for lack of a normal amplifier to them - their bass is anemic.

My source is DAP Shanling M9.

Do you think these genres TH900 MK2 will be the right choice?

great headphone. Interesting tuning. Linear, but V shaped. They personally give me a headache after 30 minutes. But they are fast, hit hard and the vocals sound lovely. I would personally look at the Verite Closed, but the TH900 MK2 is a fantastic headphone.

I am super sensitive to nodes in the treble and don't EQ. But, they are one of the best closed backs for a reason. Just not for me.

Replace that crappy cable with something of a higher quality and enjoy the feast. Had these for quite a while and had two custom made cables and the difference was night and day. I had an Astral Acoustics SSPC which I see is no longer offered and one based on Ranko wire called Tinsel (SPC with an OCC copper foil). Anyway, a quality copper will be nice to really squeeze out the quality of that bass and tame those sharp highs while bringing that midrange to the front and make it less congested.

In two years of ownership, before selling all the gear and taking a hiatus, I never went back to stock cable unless absolutely forced when doing some testing, which was absolutely traumatic experience each and every time. In other words - stock cable is pile of horsepoo.

I had them briefly and used with a few dac/amps combos (such as Audio GD NFB 11.28, Burson C3 Reference, Mytek Liberty DAC) and to me there was no night/day difference. In fact if I heard something "new" on some of these amps was hissing as these Fostex were quite a bit sensitive. So I wouldn't worry about the power.
I even preferred them with Audio GD than Burson sonically wise.
