Hi. I hope this isn't of topic. I have the th900 and I love love love it. To me the HD800 sounds cheap. The ether wasn't any better and I want impressed by the he1000 either. I love the th900 signatures sound. Problem is, I need to find a ciem. But I don't want to take advice from someone who loves HD800 over TH900. Anyone have a ciem suggestion for a th900 lover?

Nice, glad that you like the TH900!  But I'm not sure how the HD800 would sound cheap...or be even comparable to the TH900 sound sig wise (they're just so different).

Interesting...I'm sure they are top notch too. The OP needs to listen to samples himself before deciding which is better for his taste.

JVC FX 1200/1100 maybe? I love my TH-900 and currently using FX-1200 with linum bax cable for my daily driver IEM. its not a CIEM but it sounds very very nice. good low end impact and extensions.

Can an iem sound like th900? Shure 846 doesn't slam like 900, but in a pinch.

An update for any future reference:

I returned the refurbished th900 and got a new mkII. The sound is quite different from the two - Detail, sound stage, and bass.

When I compared the two, the angle of the pads were different; the gap between the cups and frame for the cups were also larger on the refurbished th900. Something was not done right during the refurbishing process for them.

I am quite happy with the mkii now; I have been listening to it exclusively over my hd800.

The in-ear I've tried that resembles the TH cans the closest would be the JVC woodie range, particularly the 850 variant (1100 is better, but the signature is darker), though they're universal fit only. The Campfire Audio Lyra also comes to mind. Not as technically proficient as the Jupiter and Andromeda above it, but it's got that "swing" in its sound, particular bass frequencies. Also not a custom, unfortunately.

I've got a FitEar MH335DW, which I picked over all other customs I auditioned (Noble K10 included) mainly because of the way it renders low frequencies and how much it sounds like a dynamic driver setup (attacks, decays, less "hardness" in its sound), despite being balanced armature. Having said that, it's still a different kind of presentation, and generally hard to procure outside Japan and a select few Asian countries that have official resellers.
