Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread

Speaking of bass, here's another great track that displays the TH-900's bass capabilities (warning: NSFW language):

The sound quality isn't exactly the best, but not only does it show that the TH-900 can go down reaaaaalllllyyyyyy looowww, it also can display amazing texture and detail in the sub-bass region, which I doubt the TH-X00/600 can do as well. OMG.

I never knew that sub-bass line existed until I heard the song through the TH-900's. This is what tells me the TH-900 was worth it.

LOL. Honestly, I still do miss the CD3000, but does that mean I regret the TH-900? Or that I wouldn't have bought the TH-900 if I hadn't sold the CD3000? Not at all. I actually think the "recessed mids" on the TH-900 works well for modern pop music, and that bass... :basshead:

Yupe, modern pop and even classical or ballads are just fine, and even hip hop and EMD. Only rock and metals may be harsh but only on bad tracks or badly mixed :D. Otherwise th900 is just too good, that it melt my mind lol.

I can't even say that the trebles spikes are "bad"...they are intentionally tuned by fostex, because this th900 is meant to be "premium References grade". What is so "premium References" if a headphones can play trebles just smooth on bad recording, and is lacking extensions and details on good mastered records ? :D. That is why my Z7 that musicality beast never was advertised of being "references" either lol...

At least you can take comfort in the fact that the 3000 was a cousin to the R-10 that also utilized bio cellulose tech and in turn the 900 shares the same driver construction (material wise).

I beleive the 3000 also utilized a bio cellulose diaphragm.

I see a theme here lol.

3000 and R10 was purely microbial-cellulose diaphragms. Th900 and nowadays fostex are microbial+synthetic cellulose.

Is Tesla an important measurement? I was going to compare to see how that 1.5 Tesla figure compared to other headphones (like Fostex's T50RP similar to the MrSpeakers stuff, or even some of the other Audeze stuff like the lower EL-8) but that kind of info seems hard to come by.

Well...what is more important to a car speed ? Appearances ? Gas ? Materials ? Craftsmanship ? Or engine ? Ofcourse Tesla is very important, it is the most important thing in your headphones :D. Audeze only has 1 that use 1.5 Tesla, the LCD-4, it is very cheap, only $4500, and is planar magnetic. The next one in the world is TH900, expensive at $1300 :D. Your call!

Anyways, the link above look like Fostex new amp, and Fostex new headphones. The shadow look like TH1200 ? It doesn't look like 900 for sure :D

I think it's the mass-produced (not Massdrop produced) version of TH-X00 with detachable cables. Maybe TH700?

TH900 MK2 will have detachable cables but it looks much prettier.
