Nice sound, much better than usual TH900 mk2 even TH909

The mid is improved to be more balance and I rate its overall performance higher than HD820

Fostex, Well Done !!
This time, Th900 sb do really have potential to beat with Sony R10 in my thought

Can go you go in more detail? Are the mids fuller? What about the treble?

Also, what are your thoughts on the TH909 in general?

Here's part of the product description from Moon Audio to different the sapphire from other colors

The Fostex TH-900 MK2 Limited Edition Sapphire Blue is the upgraded edition of one of our favorite headphones, the Fostex TH900 MK2. The Sapphire Blue edition has different voicing than the original, Fostex has revoiced the driver slightly with a bit more dampening treatment.

The frequencies between 300-600Hz have been increased or expanded and from 6500Hz and up the frequencies have been smoothed out a bit. The end result is a more linear sounding headphone across the frequency band. It is not a dramatic change over the regular version of the TH900 MkII but it is improved and it's the best sounding version of this model in our opinion.

The treble and bass is upkept as same standard as of TH900. No trade off can be heard.

For example , TH900 sb can make your seat to be in VIP front row rather than back row in concert hall. All the image and details can be presented in a more relax, tidy and balance position. As a result, the reality of sound is therefore upgraded.

Sound of TH909 is more airy but it can not give surpise to me since its style is remained as same as TH900

I finally found a portable amp for the TH-900

The Ifi Xcan.

The 3d sound with the Xbass sounds soooo good in these headphones. The best thing is the bass isn't bloated like you would find in other amps $300 or less. Its clean and actually amped

Welcome to the SB club :D It's my default headphones ever since I got em, putting the HD800s 2nd. Closed or not, I prefer the TH900s sound. I never heard the red (or my personal fav. colour the green) so I cannot assert if the blue sound different or not. I just know that for me the TH900 SB with dekoni sheepskin pads are end-game worthy.
