I'm one of those who has used the zune, zen, iriver, iaudio and digimind.........but I feel the ipod sounds the best (or the most neutral)......there seems to be so much bad press on the ipod on this site, that I wanted to set up a new thread for people that wanted to say something good about the SQ of the ipod.

I think my iPod sounds great. But I use the line level outs into an amp.

Man, I wish that that was true the Ipod just has a amazing formfactor and I would have bought it right way.

All I know is my 1st generation Nano sounds horrifying compared to my Cowon D2 using Shure E500's and the lineout.. so much so it just sits in my drawer collecting dust...

I think you misread the thread title, this is for people that actually "like" there Ipod. There are plenty of Ipod bashing threads around here to state your dislikes with you particular Ipod.

They may not synergize with the E500s--have you tried different HPs with it?

Many people correlates boomy bass/loudness = better sound quality, which IMO they're not. Most people know iPod's EQ sux, so those that are used to "distort" their music with EQ/BBE/WOW/mach bass/mega bass/etc will play with the iPod's EQ, find it to be bad, and then slam the iPod for having "bad" sound quality because they cannot get the "distortion" that they achieved on other DAPs. iPod's EQ does sux, but that doesn't mean iPod has bad SQ.
