How's that going? Both are finicky of the system. I reverted my Q701 to stock for now as I experiment with the system itself, these AKG's can really sing when synergy is right.

The K7 has bloomed after some 50 hours or so, and I would say they are going to be as good as they get. It is very clear this is a music listening device, and not reference. I'm going to keep it short and sweet/simple.

k7Slovakian
Bass 8.5
Mids 8.5
Treble 8.5
Avg: 8.5/10

Dt480
Bass 7.3
Mids 9.2
Treble 8.4
Avg: 8.3/10

^ How i feel today :D

These are ratings i'd give compared to TOTL dynamics I've heard. So both get A-

I think 99% of people would choose k7S for music listening. Its better overall (taking the whole frequency range in mind + its open nature, comfort, etc.) Its an all rounder, BIG MAC MEAL on the go. Maybe the k701/q701 is picky, this Slovakian is not so much IMO.
The dt480.200 for Analyzing music, and checking other headphone flaws is its strength. But I like it for music. Its special, but i can see people hating it for long listening sessions across many genres. This is Wales Aged Cheddar + Pickled Artichoke Burger with Canadian Bacon.

In saying that, if someone were to rob me and said pick one to keep, Its the German one 10 out of 10 times. :D

YMMV

Ah okay. The thing with the K7 series they sound good on most everything, but get the system right and they completely change, the dynamics completely change becoming much more vivid and 3D and they gain an incredible amount of euphony. You'll know when you hear it, all music will offer a completely different experience. The DT 480 is also a fickle beast, I haven't quite found that magical combination yet, but I have gotten hints of it. The HD 650 is the same way, when I heard it on a system that brought it's potential out I understood it's praise.

To keep on topic, I am listening to the DT 880 now.

Sennheiser HD 600 unamped through Mac mini (Late 2012) headphone port :). I've tested them out with a Sennheiser HDV 820 and it sounded very very good, so I know what they are capable of.
