1. In a word, yes. I haven't listened to the stock cable but I've been very happy with them.
2. 500-600g but the ergonomics with the buffalo strap and soft lambskin mean they disappear on the head. The clamp force is pleasant and I find them comfortable enough for a long listen.
3. They're not the most technical or detailed (e.g. electrostatics, Susvara, LCD-5) surpass them for that. But the Caldera Open have soul and personality. And I love the provenance. There is a lot of love and labour that go into crafting them. They don't feel "mass produced". I don't know how many of the Buckeye Burl in clear blue resin flake ZMF made (I've seen one other on Reddit) but there ain't that many!
That's awesome! Some of these headsets are getting really intricate looking. Makes me want to pick up a set. Currently use iems only. Mostly my empire ears Odin.

Switching between the Audivina & Lensys

The Audivina are lovely with this sort of stuff. Lensys is a bit too ‘cool’ at times.

That's when you finally realize that you are successful and very good at what you do. 😉 Rock on!

I hadn't thought about it that way, but you might be right. I've done appearances and clinics for this manufacturer several times over the 2.5 years I've been on their endorser list, but this is the first time they slid me a first class ticket. That's a cool thought! Thanks for bringing it up. 👍😎

Topical Content:

I'm back stateside, but I've got one more flight before I'm home. You know what that means, right? More killing time while listening to music. If the flight arrives/departs on time I should only be waiting about 50 minutes. I've switched over to the 64Audio A18t and they'll be running off the Cayin N8ii.

On deck in my musical rotation is Mugstar with their 2013 album, Axis. These guys are a psych rock/space rock quartet out of Liverpool, UK. I learned about them from a friend who was in a Brit Army unit that served on a task force I was a part of. As far as I can tell, the band never officially broke up, but they haven't released any new albums/material since 2016. Given how good they are, I'm hoping they'll eventually put out more music. Give this album a listen if you're a fan of psychedelic stuff and you'll hear why. 🤘😎

P.S. British Airways' first class is freakin' crazy. They gave me pajamas and slippers (nice ones, too), this little bag with like boutique skin care items and toiletries in it, and you get your own little semi-private nook to kick it in. It was all very posh as my friends from across the pond would say. Now if they'd just serve a meal that wasn't your typical rich people, fine dining nonsense food they'd be crushing it. 👍

Reconfigured my stereo and moved it to my sunroom which is a larger room with French doors so I can close it off for privacy and/or high volumes with my Klipsch speakers. Just purchased the Ragnarock 2 so I have one awesome amp for both speakers and headphones. Love the amp just enjoying the music so much I can’t leave the room.
Wishbone Argus is a great break in album and great listen through the ZMF Auteurs.

One of my favorite female vocal albums. Highly recommended as Sarah is both an excellent singer and guitarist. Also the arrangement of the songs and how the vocals and instruments are layered makes it a great and interesting listen.
Still using the ZMF Auteurs I think they are welded to my brain today.

I'm home, unpacked, showered up, dogs are walked, stomach is full, I've got a glass of Scotch (Macallan Double Cask 15, neat), reclined in my lounge chair, and I've got the house to myself until tomorrow evening. It's good to be home and it's gonna be a good night. I'm starting off on the ZMF Atriums driven by the Burson Soloist 3XGT and my Schiit Yggdrasil MIB being fed by a Wiim Pro. I wanted something laid back and lush.

Kickin' off tonight's queue with Wooden Shjips' 2007 self-titled debut LP. These guys play a low key brand of psych rock that I dig quite a bit when I'm in the mood to relax. Some of their tracks sound remarkably like a relaxed, slowed down version of The Doors while others stray into Grateful Dead jam sesh territory. I haven't listened to them in quite a while, but they caught my eye the other day while I was trawling my psych rock library and they fit my mood perfectly so here we go. 👍👍😎

How do the K340s sound on the RS08? Theoretically I'd think it would make for an ultra detailed pairing with enhanced dynamics especially in the low end and now I'm wondering if it actually works out that way.

I couldn't have described it better myself.☺️ The electrostatic drivers make the lead guitar and saxophone 🎷 sound ultra sweet 😋 and realistic.
They deliver the music in a spherical soundstage with plenty of depth, width and height.

They're 45 years old and still take up a huge amount of my quality head-time.
