Already at the airport to catch an early flight and begin the trek back home. Killing time by listening to some tunes (of course) and reading the news. It feels good to read an actual printed newspaper and I take the opportunity whenever I can like when I passed a newsstand (didn't know we still had any left) in the airport this morning. Currently rockin' the CFA Supermoons through my Cayin N8ii. Also stoked that my hosts sprung for a first class ticket. 😎

Kickin' off this morning's queue is Toska with their 2018 release, Fire by the Silos. This album is absolutely bangin'! It's track after track of top shelf prog-metal by some Brits who know how to play. A Tall Order and Prayermonger are the two standouts for me with the title track, Fire by the Silos, earning an honorable mention. I can't rec this album or this band highly enough. 🔥🤘😎

The Unseen (2024) by Klone - Thanks to @bgillis for the heads up, this, the 9th studio release from the French proggers dropped on Friday - and it's extremely good. Led by the very strong vocals of Yann Ligner the music is powerful and atmospheric and as far as I'm concerned their best album to date - I've been listening to it for hours, so I may be biased. Loving it through the Aryas, there's no part of the audio spectrum that goes missing, it's all there in glorious detail, with an addictive thump from the bottom end.

Rainy Saturday, nice to be inside then. Still listening mostly to the SR7000, should start and work on the review soon.
Preffer to just listen for a week or two before writing down my thoughts, one thing I'm sure on its easy to listen to. First out today will be the new EP from The Pineapple Thief - Last To Run.

Do they sound as good as they look? What's your thoughts of them? How heavy are they?
1. In a word, yes. I haven't listened to the stock cable but I've been very happy with them.
2. 500-600g but the ergonomics with the buffalo strap and soft lambskin mean they disappear on the head. The clamp force is pleasant and I find them comfortable enough for a long listen.
3. They're not the most technical or detailed (e.g. electrostatics, Susvara, LCD-5) surpass them for that. But the Caldera Open have soul and personality. And I love the provenance. There is a lot of love and labour that go into crafting them. They don't feel "mass produced". I don't know how many of the Buckeye Burl in clear blue resin flake ZMF made (I've seen one other on Reddit) but there ain't that many!
