Great album, currently only have it on vinyl, so I can't listen to it. (need to get the CD). Anyway, Michael Franks fan Myself.A blast from my past... (1976) Roon/Qobuz > Yggy+ GS2 > ZMF Aegis > Atrium Open
BTW, that album was actually released 1975 on Reprise Records. The first CD was released in 1984. Seems the version you have is from 2011.

Good Excellent detail and timbre and a mids-focused tuning, quite a good match for an acoustic guitar album.

I did a pretty fun drum clinic this morning. I really enjoy interacting with people and hopefully spreading a little knowledge to my fellow drummers in the process. One of the other enorsers that was supposed to do the evening clinic couldn't be at the event because of some family emergency so I've got to teach his clinic on the fly here in a couple hours. Don't tell the manufacturer because they think I'm doing them a big favor, but I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm grabbing a little late lunch/early dinner combo meal while I have some downtime and I'm doing a little listening while I eat. I hate eating with IEMs in so I've opted for earbuds, choosing the Symphonio Dragon 3+. I'm running it off my Fiio BTR7 because I didn't bring a DAP with me.
Up first in my queue is Dance Gavin Dance with their 2019 instrumental version of their 2013 album, Acceptance Speech 2.0. Over the last several days I've been slowly working my way through the instrumental versions of DGD's catalog. The side project I'm working on right now is instrumental so I've been listening to instrumental albums almost exclusively just to get a feel for some of the recording, production, and songwriting/arranging techniques that make for a successful instrumental album. That aside, DGD is always a fun listen and it has been interesting to see how their songs translate to being instrumental works.

I finally was able to get a CD. Listening from FLAC file after listening to it whole previous day on speaker setup.
M-Scaler > TT2 > Focal Stellia
I think Stellias have great synergy with TT2, no separate amp is needed contrary to some other HPs. They allow to retain TT2 detail retrieval, dynamics and speed, sound stage width and depth, 3D and transparency (without loosing TT2 tiny hint of warmth, definitively smaller one than in ifi burr-brown dac implementation).
Stellias is one of few detailed, dynamic cans that are not fatiguing even after longer listening session with Chord Dacs (except Mojo OG where lack of some detail and transparency, more intimate scene and bigger hint of warmth resulted in me never being tired of listening to it regardless used HPs contrary to Mojo 2).

Another brilliant album with Tsuyoshi Yamamoto piano and great female vocals:
M-Scaler > TT2 > Focal Stellia
Focals are great IMHO for female vocals, and Stellias together with Utopias excels at this.

Chilling to a classic IDM album from the 90s, Dead Cities by The Future Sound Of London. These guys were so far ahead of their time. Even if the sounds are inherantly 90s, there’s an overall timeless feel to this. From the blasting break beats to the almost Karate Kid-like eastern synths, this record changes moods all through it’s playing time - at times giving off a desolate dystopian urban vibe and then all of a sudden it’s like you wandered through a psychedelic rainforest of sounds.
The LCD-2 was made for this music. Sounds so incredibly good.

I've a couple of FSOL CDs (ISDN, and Lifeforms) but they never moved me. The only tune I really like from them is Smoking Japanese Babe off their ISDN album.Chilling to a classic IDM album from the 90s, Dead Cities by The Future Sound Of London. ^Which happens to be one of the only releases I don’t own
Surely that must be rectified asap!
Next in line here is a prog rock album that made quite the waves back when it hit the streets, A Drop Of Light by All Traps On Earth.
Highly eclectic record that mixes old school symphonic mellotron touches with something akin to teutonic Zeuhlish gestures like you find in a band like Magma. On top you get High priestess vocalisations and all kinds of musical twists and turns either by way of keys or guitars…plus a bit of fusion of course! Pretty much Änglagård on acid.
Sounds like music for giants.
Still on the LCD-2

This jazz album is so good! Released last week. Excellent for testing out technicalities, detail retrieval, and bass resolution as well as spatial cues.
