Morning coffee with Miroak-II thro R4 Eva
Traveling with a trio of IEMs. Tonight it's the Sivga Que.
Sivga Que < Hiby R4 (Tidal)
Rough & Ready (2024), Ruthven
Ruthven rolls very much in the same sphere as soul balladeer Sampha, but with juuuust a bit more groove. This album has been swimming around in my background rotation over the past week or two, but I keep going back to it again and again. It's low key, so it snuck up on me.

Spending some more time with the 634ears LOAK-TX02s while I finish up some soldering in my workshop. These IEMs remind me a bit of the kind of relaxed but still technically competent presentation I enjoy from ZMF. They're currently being driven by a Fiio BTR7.
On deck in my queue is Der Neue Planet and their 2022 release, Area Fifty-Fun. This album is solid instrumental prog from beginning to end. The music incorporates some other influences like psych and post-rock, but mostly it's just straightforward, well executed, and capably produced prog. The tracks are great individually, but the whole album is greater than the sum of its parts. I own all four of the releases from their Bandcamp page and this one is my favorite hands down. Highly recommended!

Hiding in Plain Sight (2024) by Herin - Saw this on Qobuz, read about it on Bandcamp and bought it on Bandcamp. It's the first solo album from Chris Herin (Tiles, Discipline) and features nearly 30 guests, such as Alex Lifeson, Peter Frampton, Martin Barre (I didn't know he could play the flute) and a whole heap of others. Also, it's produced by Terry Brown, longtime producer of Rush. The album is a dark conceptual work about how he coped with his father's 10-year struggle with Alzheimer's and proceeds go to Alzheimer's Non Profits in honor of his father. Apparently, almost everybody involved with making the album had a close family member that suffered from Alzheimer's.
I didn't use the Bandcamp image link because surprise, surprise, it was showing the wrong image so I went with the one that comes with the album.
Stayed with the HD800S tonight as a) they were in easy reach, b) they are so damned comfortable and most importantly, c) they sound amazingly good.

Picked up the Audeze LCD-4s for a bit of fun and I'll be running them off the Burson Soloist 3XGT and Schiit Yggdrasil MIB being fed by a Wiim Pro. It's really a shame that Audeze doesn't make the LCD-4s anymore. They're the best pair they've made, IMO.
On deck in tonight's queue is The Arbitrary with a pair of EPs: Entropy (rel. 2016) and Identity (rel. 2017). This instrumental metal-prog band out of New Orleans is another recent discovery for me. I posted their LP, Rebirth, here previously, but these EPs are top shelf listening so I figured I should give them their due, too. These guys release track after track of pure fire without a single dud in the bunch. I'd rec an album from these guys every day of the week and twice in Sundays if they had a large enough discography. For now I can only listen and wait for future releases.

"The cover of Jimi Hendrix' Angel is a delicious stand out delight. The almost stiffly martial introduction cleverly masks the break into the familiar melody and a more relaxed vocal style. It contrasts with the rest of the album without jarring, appropriately capturing a modern virtuoso whose quick-burning flame and electric presence provided a counterpart to the original musical showman. The band sounds joyous, the violin soars and the mood is exhilarating, like unexpected sunbeams bouncing off a troubled sea. (Background Magazine)"

Keepin' it simple tonight. No tubes or DCE. Just...
Sony NW-A25 (untethered) > Rose Technics Quiet Sea > Kbear Hazy 3.5mm.
Lizzy Borden - Menace To Society (1986). The axeman madman at the height of his sunset strip powers! 80's metal at it's finest! Bloody Mary time!

Yussef Kamaal - Black Focus (2016). One of the smoothest, funkiest, funnest Nu Urban Jazz albums. Well executed and with some nice bottom end.

Doggy-walk with Tanchjim One in my ears.
Went for some modern prog rock with an experimental jazz fusion touch. It’s remarkably memorable whilst at the same time filled with unorthodox shifts and turns, either by way of horns or snaky electronics. Like vanilla ice cream with chili flakes.

Modern Boogie-Woogie on a fine fall morning (well, in Florida this as close to fall as we will be getting!)
Roon/Qobuz > Yggy+ GS2 > ZMF Aegis > Atrium Open

Sennheiser HD800s, love that feeling of nothingness on my head.
I took most of my collection with me on the job today, and had a good time with my colleagues comparing them all. It's really cool to hear opinions from people that haven't been influenced by things they have read or head about the different headphones. They know good sound very well, just not from headphones. Awesome day at the office
Setup is a Wiim Mini, SMSL DO100 and a Behringer HA6000.
I listened mostly to Michael Ruff and the album Speaking In Melodies. Especially the track called Wishing Well, is fantastic
