With regret I have decided to sell my Sound Quest SQ-84 10 watt tube integrated amp. This amp includes a wonderful headphone section with a switch to choose between headphones or speakers. The amp will include some excellent nos 6v6/6k6 tubes. In addition, I will include several pair of nos 6U8 input/ driver tubes. I am asking $500 plus split shipping from 43050. This amp now costs $1295 in a MK II version and IMO the new version runs the tubes to hard. I will accept paypal or USPS money order. This sale is for the CONUS only. The amp is in excellent physical shape and has been operationally bullet proof.

This amp sounds wonderful on my Ascend Acoustics speakers and with my low impedance Grado headphones. The amp also includes a tube cage. This amp is very substantial at around 30 pounds with a reputation for reliability.

Read about the amp here .....

I have owned or extensively auditioned about every headphone amp in existance. The SQ-84, using low impedance headphones, is definitely better sounding than the Woo 3 and Woo 6 I owned .... and for other examples .... I would take one of these over a RSA Raptor in a heartbeat .... or the Headamp GS-1 and Mapletree Ear+ amps that I also have owned.

This is just a really good amp that seemingly gets overlooked because the amp can drive speakers.

bump .... and willing to trade for some speakers. Ascend Acoustics 170SE or 340SE/ JMlabs Chorus 706, 710 or the newer Chorus 806V or Cobalt 806S. If you have something else tell me what you have. No metal dome tweeters except for the JM Lab models.

bump .... I have had lots on International interest. But, I will not ship International as I have had nothing but problems when I do. This amp is way to heavy anyway. To protect the amp properly would make shipping costs astronomical.

Have you ever bumped the speaker/headphone switch by accident while powered? Are you the original owner? Have you ever had this serviced for any problems? Any excessive hum or crackle in the left or right channels?
Are the HD650's requirements too demanding for this amp?

No

2nd owner

no service needed

No hum etc....

The 650 works fine you just have to open up the volume somewhat more than the low impedance headphones.
