Hi, I am looking into getting a pair of akg 701's or denon 2000's and like the price size of the bithead, should I hold out and spend 4 times as much on the micr portable w/dac or do you guys have another magic usb/amp that you'd recommend. I can afford the bithead now but would have to a few weeks on the micro.

I would like to deal with headroom, long established company, very nice on the phone and 30 day return policy but am open to other ideas.

thanks

IMO you'd be wise to save up. I once owned a HeadRoom Micro amp (2006 w/desktop module). I know they're better now but my Micro had big power for a portable which you'll need if you go 701. I love having a small USB DAC/amp.

HeadRoom is a great company and you can rely on their support.

I demo'ed Headroom equipment at Can Jam '08. While on the pricey side, the amps were outstanding. The crossfeed feature is really cool and it works! Gain switch is real useful if you plan to use a variety of headphones with the unit.

That said, I would save up for the micro as I can see it lasting you much longer than the Bithead. Later, you can purchase the matching DAC.

I think newkstime is looking at the battery powered version which has the optional DAC.

I am looking to upgrade from a Total Bithead to a Meier 2Move... Not sure what exactly I am expecting to be different, but I know it's a step up for not completely unreasonable $'s.
