...which one is comfier?

That's all that I am worried about, since I know that both headphones, costing me about the same with employee discount, are both more than adequate for what I need them for...

Call me crazy, but I prefer the sound of the Triports more than that of the HD280. The HD280 sounds too flat, and has no "soul" IMO. The Triports are grossly overpriced, but they do have a more engaging sound than the 280. Bose customer service is top notch, and they do recognize the headband problem. From what I've heard, they will replace the entire headphone for free if the headband ever breaks, even when they are out of warranty. I sent my busted out of warranty set in (dead driver, cracked cups) and they gave me a new pair for $50.

Plus, the Triports are more comfy

I was reading through the triport appreciation thread. Are those people making fun of the triport, or are they for real!! Some claim it's the best headphone they ever heard!! Are they serious.

No......
Nowhere near it. Most people, all poking fun aside, wouldn't pay more than $30-$40 for them.

I listened to the Triports this summer, and I vastly prefer every single one of my headphones over them, including the HD280.

However, it should really come down to what your needs are. The Triports are a bit more comfortable, although the HD280 gets pretty comfy after you stretch out the headband a bit (use a box). The HD280 give much better isolation, if that's a concern, and the sound is much more accurate. Of course, accurate doesn't always equate to "fun", so it's a matter of personal preference.

And so head-fi starts its self-destruction count down...

But seriously if comfort is the only factor than Triports are the way to go. But if you care at all about sound quality than get the 280.

yeah, all I need them for is hooking up to a camera when I am recording. Also, for hooking up to the computer to listen to what I am editing (movie wise) and occasional late night gaming...

The Triports are in stock, the HD 280's I ahve to custom order.
