Hello everyone!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday so far and are preparing for the New Years!

Recently, I was trying to change the headband of my Sony MDR-V600 headphones and I don't know why but I was so stupid to cut the wire so I could put the new headband in. Soon after cutting it, I realized that it would probably be near impossible to solder the disconnected wires together since that single cable carriers the positive and negative wires of the right headphone driver. Not sure why I wasn't thinking but for some reason, I thought I would simply just re-solder that one wire but then realized that 1 wire carried 2 small wires inside. Probably just won the idiot award of the month. At this point, it might be too late but Is is it possible to re-solder the wires together or did I damage it to the point that it's not worth fixing the wires. In that case, is there a replacement headphone driver wire I could buy that I could remove the broken wire and then replace with the new wire and connect it to the right side driver to the left so I can make my headphones fully functional again? Having a hard time seeing if anyone sells replacement internal wires for headphone drivers.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks! Wondering how to biwire them unless I just buy that, cut that wire in half (assuming no issues with doing that), and then have one go to the positive and the other one for the negative? Hoping there are some premade biwires that I could easily just replace and install into the headphone.

Thanks again.

Anyone know of any wire that exists where I can easily drop one in and solder the ends? Or I guess I can try to salvage any pair of broken headphones and hope the wire is good enough to use...

I apologize for stating this, not knowing your situation or finances … however, for that model of Sony headphones - you'd be better off trashing it and finding something else. The Sony MDR V6 is vastly superior, the same vintage, and can be had for $75 brand new. Replace the pads with some Beyer DT-250 velours and you have some really good headphones that will last for a couple of decades.

The V600 is an atrocious headphone. I know. I owned one. I have three V6s and every one of them is still kicking.

Hello. No need to apologize. I'm just someone who wants to try to fix things and not let things go to waste. I could go out and buy a MDR-V6 for $55 brand new (might in the future) but currently happy with my current headphones (not the MDR-V600). If there are no easy solutions or bi-wires that can be easily bought, I might as well put these headphones in some box and maybe in the future, try to work on it at another time. I did end up buying another V600 headphone for about $20 used off eBay though lol. For $20, it's okay. Definitely not worth the MSRP price for sure though.

The V600 headphones aren't bad (at least compared to no name brand headphones). I prefer my HD 439 headphones over them though.

Anyway, thanks for the insight.
